Columbus police have arrested two people accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint and killing her 7-week-old puppy.
According to Columbus police, officers responded to a robbery in progress at a South Linden home on May 7.
The female victim said the suspects, 22-year-old Patrick Agee and a 16-year-old, came to her home to purchase the pit bull puppy.
The victim told police the teen and Agee both pulled out guns and demanded cash after entering her home.
Police said the 16-year-old pistol-whipped the victim and Agee dragged her through her home by her hair. The pair reportedly stole cash and a weapon.
As the suspects forced the victim from her home, the teen shot the puppy in the head, killing it instantly.
When officers arrived, the victim was able to break free and the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, nearly striking an officer.
Officers pursued the vehicle and the pair tried to flee on foot after the vehicle was stopped. Police were able to locate both suspects and take them into custody.
Police said the 16-year-old had the stolen weapon in his possession and another weapon was found in the vehicle. Officers said the teen tossed a weapon out of the vehicle during the pursuit, which was recovered.
The 16-year-old was charged with aggravated robbery, robbery, receiving stolen property, weapons under disability, abuse of a companion animal and tampering with evidence.
Agee was charged with aggravated robbery and faces additional charges.
