JOHNSTOWN, Ohio -- Licking County Sheriff's Deputies were working to round up cattle that escaped after a barn fire.

The fire started shortly before 4:00 a.m. on Beech Road. Fire officials say around 150 cattle were secured after the fire and over 50 more were unaccounted for Thursday morning.

Beech Road between Miller Road and Jug Street was closed as deputies worked to corral the animals.

The Plain Township Fire Chief says he believes all the cows have been accounted for. The fire reportedly started in a workshop and the owner let the cows out because he feared the fire would spread.

The cows were taken to another facility to be milked, as power remains off at the farm.
