Suspect in deadly shooting in Milo-Grogan neighborhood arrested near Sandusky

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A suspect in a deadly shooting that happened in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood has been arrested near Sandusky.

Columbus police say 18-year-old Davon Martin was arrested in Fremont on Monday.

Martin is charged with murder in the shooting death of 21-year-old Tyrese Saunders.

Columbus police responded to the 1000 block of Leona Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 14.

Police say they found Saunders on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Saunders was taken to Grant Medical Center where he later died.

Police say Saunders got into an argument with Martin, who pulled out a gun and shot Saunders.

After he was shot, Saunders pulled out a gun and fired at Martin, who fled from the scene on foot.

Martin is being held at the Sandusky County Jail and will be extradited back to Columbus.

This is the 13th homicide in Columbus this year.
