MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio — The National Weather Service says two EF0 tornadoes touched down in the western part of the state Saturday night as January rain, wind and storms swept through the region.
According to the NWS, the first EF0 tornado touched down at 10:11 p.m. in the southwest edge of the city of Troy. The agency said it crossed the city center and the Great Miami River before lifting on the city’s northeast edge.
Damage was mostly done to trees and roofs. It was on the ground two minutes and traveled just over three miles, the NWS said.
An EF0 tornado is classified as a tornado with wind speeds ranging from 65-85 mph, according to the agency.
The second EF0 tornado touched down at 10:15 p.m. on the north side of East Peterson Road, about four miles southwest of Fletcher.
The tornado moved across rural areas of Miami County and lifted six minutes later, about two miles northeast of Fletcher. It traveled a total of 6.3 miles.
Damage from that tornado mainly involved trees, barns, electrical poles and residential structures, the NWS said.
No injuries or fatalities were reported from either tornado.
