Shawnee State University said they are investigating three possible cases of the coronavirus on campus Monday night.

According to the school’s website, all persons who were possibly in contact are being quarantined and they expect results in 24 to 48 hours.

“Shawnee State is monitoring the guidelines and recommendations from local, state and federal health officials to protect the safety and well-being of our campus community,” the statement said.

State health officials confirmed three cases of the virus in Cuyahoga County earlier in the day.

All three — a husband and wife who were on a Nile cruise, and a man who attended the America Israel Public Affairs Committee conference in Washington, D.C. — are in their mid-50s.

Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency, an action which allows the state to buy health-related supplies without first seeking bids.
