New Albany schools to drop mask requirements for Pre-K through 6th-grade students

The school's board of education voted to drop the mandate and masks will be optional once classes resume on Jan. 4.

NEW ALBANY, Ohio —
Pre-K through sixth-grade students at New Albany schools will not have to wear masks anymore once they return from winter break in January.

The school's board of education voted to drop the mandate and masks will be optional once classes resume on Jan. 4. The policy goes into effect on Saturday, Dec. 18, for all students, families, faculty and staff. Winter break starts that following Monday.

Students must still wear masks on school buses, which is required by a federal order.

Pickerington Local School District also made the decision to drop the mask requirements for kindergarten through sixth-grade students once kids return from winter break on Jan 4.

You can watch the district's school board meeting on the decision below.
