1 injured in drive-by shooting in Linden area

An officer suffered minor injuries during a foot chase with a suspect.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person was injured in a drive-by shooting in the Linden area Saturday afternoon.

According to Columbus police, they were called to the 2600 block of Westerville Road around 3:15 p.m. on a reported shooting.

Police say a man was in his car in a parking lot when a suspect in a vehicle drove by and shot him 3 times.

The victim was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition but was later upgraded to stable condition. 

Police later found a vehicle that matched the description of the one used in the shooting near the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Joyce Avenue. 

Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle when the individuals in the car fled the scene. 

During a foot chase, an officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.

One suspect was detained. It is unknown if they are connected to the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation.
