Licking Heights High School student killed in reported drive-by shooting in Blacklick

A Licking Heights High School student was killed in a shooting on Churchside Chase Drive Monday afternoon, according to Columbus police.

BLACKLICK, Ohio -- A Licking Heights High School student was killed in a shooting on Churchside Chase Drive Monday afternoon, according to Columbus police.

The shooting was called in at 4:04 p.m. The male victim, Mohamed Abdulkadir, 15, was pronounced dead at about 4:20 p.m.

Police on the scene said that the teenager was found in a driveway. There are no suspects or witnesses.

They said the original 911 call came in as a drive-by shooting. According to police there are no known suspects or motives at this time.

Wengert Road remained closed at Churchside Chase Drive as police investigate the scene.

Family members tell 10TV, funeral and burial services will take place Tuesday for Mohamed.

It is with great sadness I can confirm an underclassman student at Licking Heights High School passed away this evening. Starting Tuesday morning our crisis team, including guidance counselors, will be available to all students and staff. Our hearts go out to the family as they cope with this tragic loss. In respect to their privacy and the pending police investigation, no further information will be released about the student at this time.
