2 critically injured in crash involving trash truck near Franklinton

Columbus police investigated a crash involving a car and a trash truck

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are investigating a crash that injured four people at the intersection of W. Town Street and Brehl Avenue. 

A car and a waste management truck collided in the intersection around 3:50 a.m. on Tuesday. 

According to police on the scene, the car heading northbound on Brehl and the truck was heading westbound on W. Town Street at the time of the crash.

Firefighters had to use rescue tools to cut open the car and help free two victims inside.

According to dispatchers with Columbus Police, medical personnel transported four people to Grant Medical Center for treatment. Two of the injured were listed in critical condition.

Dispatchers say W. Town Street is closed in both directions right now in the area of Brehl Avenue. It's expected to remain closed for at least an hour as police continue their investigation into what happened.
