LEWIS CENTER, Ohio — A transformer explosion led to a fire at an AEP substation in Lewis Center which has been contained at this time.

According to the Orange Township Fire Department, the transformer explosion happened shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday in the 7500 block of Green Meadows Drive.

Residents in the area are advised to close their doors and windows as a precaution.

Crews are on scene waiting for word from AEP on the situation.
