Construction worker injured after car crashes into work zone in west Columbus

Two people were injured after a car crashed into a work zone on the west side at I-270 and I-70, according to ODOT.

Two people were injured after a car crashed into a work zone on the west side at I-270 and I-70, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

A construction worker along with the driver of the car were both transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threating injuries.

ODOT says the crash occurred on the ramp from I-70 west to I-270 south. That ramp is currently closed.

According to ODOT, the driver of the car got in between the guardrail and the temporary concrete barrier that protects the construction workers from traffic. One of the workers saw the car approaching and jumped out of the way. That worker is employed by a contractor and not ODOT.

The ramp reopened 1 p.m.

No information immediately available if the driver of the car will be cited.
