The Columbus Italian Festival Executive Board announced the cancellations Tuesday in a statement posted to the festival website. The board cited safety concerns and financial reasons as part of the decision to cancel this year's festivities.

Organizers plan on both events returning in 2021.

The Taste of Italy was originally scheduled this year for October 5 and the Columbus Italian Festival was scheduled for October 9-11.
