COLUMBUS, Ohio — Due to an increase in cases of COVID-19, hospitals in central Ohio are bringing back their no visitors policy.

In a joint announcement Tuesday, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, OhioHealth and Mount Carmel Health System said they will temporarily stop allowing inpatient and emergency department visitors inside any of their hospitals.

The change in policy, according to the hospitals, is to ensure the health and safety of patients, hospital staff and their families.

These restrictions begin Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Exceptions to the policy include:

  • Maternity
  • End-of-life
  • Patients with impairments
  • Patients who are minors

Additionally, any visitors must wear a hospital-approved mask at all times, including while in patient rooms.
