DUBLIN, Ohio — Cardinal Health announced that it will donate 2.2 million hospital gowns to the national stockpile on Wednesday.
According to a statement from a Cardinal Health spokesperson, the gowns were in their possession from a voluntary recall because the gowns were not sterile for a surgical setting.
Those gowns are now heading to the Strategic National Stockpile operated by the Department of Health and Human Services.
HHS will distribute the gowns as “non-surgical isolation apparel," according to Cardinal Health.
President Donald Trump praised Cardinal Health during a press briefing on Wednesday:
"We are profoundly grateful for their contribution to protect the lives and safety of our health care professionals."
