A community activist whose life was cut short has been honored by the City of Columbus.
Council members posthumously awarded Amber Evans a Create Columbus Visionary Award, an accolade that recognizes young professionals who are making a difference.
Evans disappeared the evening of Monday, January 28. Her body was recovered from the Scioto River in March.
Columbus City Council President Shannon G. Hardin posted a message to Amber’s parents.
“Thank you to Mr. Peters and Ms. Fischer for sharing your daughter with this city. Amber Evans was a community champion and a powerful force for a more just Columbus.”
