MORROW COUNTY, Ohio — Fifty inmates at the Morrow County Jail have now tested positive for COVID-19.

That’s a jump from seven cases just two days ago, and is nearly two-thirds of the entire jail population there.

The Morrow County Sheriff tells 10TV there at currently 79 inmates in his jail.

The Sheriff says all of the confirmed cases, plus 3 probable positive inmates, are being isolated from the rest of the inmates.

He says they are receiving medical care, and so far none have had to be hospitalized.

10TV spoke with Hinton Wednesday about criticism that he wasn’t doing enough to keep inmates safe.

He tells 10TV Friday that every precaution possible is being taken.

Inmate temperatures are being checked three times a day, and he says the jail is being cleaned three times a day.

Hinton told 10TV, “We are doing everything we can to make sure everyone gets through this. We are giving them the best care possible.”
