4 arrested after party in Johnstown leads to gunshots

After an initial investigation, deputies found that an altercation between several people led to an exchange of gunfire.

JOHNSTOWN, Ohio - The Licking County Sheriff's Department is investigating an altercation that led to a 19-year-old with a gunshot wound.

According to the sheriff's department, the incident happened on June 23 shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the 8200 block of Johnstown-Utica Road on a report of multiple shots fired.

When deputies arrived, they encountered a party of about 50 people.

After an initial investigation, deputies found that an altercation between several people led to an exchange of gunfire.

Vehicles were also used to run into other vehicles.

A 19-year-old suffered a gunshot wound and his injury is not life-threatening.

Garland Lewis, 19, and Charles Brandt, 18, were both arrested and charged with Felonious Assault and Firing Weapons while Intoxicated.

Twenty-four-year-old Cory Lamer is charged with criminal damaging. A 17-year-old will be charged with vehicular assault.

Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp says the investigation is ongoing including who provided alcohol to underage individuals.
