1 killed in shooting in southeast Franklin County, suspect arrested

TRURO TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that happened Friday night in the parking lot of a Dollar General store in eastern Franklin County.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said Varmunyah Dunor, 20, was arrested Saturday and charged in the death of 28-year-old Jarrin Hickman.

According to a media release, deputies responded to a reported shooting on Friday around 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the store on Chatterton Road near Noe Bixby Road in Truro Township.

The sheriff's office said Hickman allegedly shot a man in the head while trying to buy marijuana from that man and Dunor.

Detectives said Dunor then chased Hickman and shot him multiple times.

Hickman was taken to Mount Carmel East Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The other man who was shot was also taken to Mount Carmel East. His condition was not released but the sheriff's office said he is still being treated at the hospital.

Dunor is charged with murder and is being held at the Franklin County Jail.

The case remains under investigation.
