Some hospitals are turning away visitors who have fevers, coughs and other symptoms this flu season, and one northeast Ohio facility is using greeters as gatekeepers to help keep out the germs.

The greeters at the entrances of Akron Children's Hospital ask people to reconsider visiting the facility if they're showing signs of illness. The hospital's vice president of patient services tells the Akron Beacon Journal it is an extra precaution to help keep employees, patients and visitors as healthy as possible.

The move comes as the pediatric hospital saw a spike in the number of patients with flu-like symptoms recently.

Experts have worried this flu season will be a tough one because the dominant strain isn't covered in this year's vaccine.
