COLUMBUS, Ohio — Organizers hope to crown champions in bodybuilding for the Arnold Classic and the Arnold Strongman Classic in 2021.

Bob Lorimer, the president of the Arnold Sports Festival, told 10TV the two invitation-only events are tentatively scheduled for Sept. 25 at Battelle Hall at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

The events draw a lot of recognition internationally and Lorimer said they really want to try and make sure a calendar year does not go by without champions.

Lorimer said attendance, as of now, would be at about 20% based on the state's guidelines in response to the latest COVID-19 data.

He said that could change if restrictions ease between now and September.

The 2021 Arnold Sports Festival, usually held in March, is postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lorimer said he hopes to hold a full Arnold Sports Festival in 2022.

Last year's festival was closed to spectators due to coronavirus concerns near the start of the pandemic.
