The former director of the Humane Society of Delaware County faced new legal troubles Thursday.

According to Marysville police, William Hadley was caught selling pet anti-anxiety pills on Craigslist to an undercover officer.

Hadley was free on bond after pleading guilty two weeks ago to stealing more than $30,000 from the humane society,10TV’s Glenn McEntyre reported.

Marysville police Chief Floyd Golden said that Hadley told police that he needed money and did not realize selling the pet medication online was illegal.

“He sold them, 160 of these tablets, for $160,” Golden said. “They were in containers that were still sealed. It also said that they were dangerous drugs that were only to be sold by prescription or by licensed veterinarian, and he was neither.”

Hadley now is in the Delaware County Jail awaiting a hearing to possibly revoke his bond, McEntyre reported.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office was deciding what charges would be filed.
