A woman who was severely wounded in a stabbing attack in late June has succumbed to her injuries, according to Columbus police.

45-year-old Candy Arthurs died early Wednesday morning after she was stabbed in the chest on June 23, along with a 7-year-old boy.

Police say the stabbings occurred after Kristopher Amos, 37, asked several children for help in locating a drone near an alley on North Wayne Avenue around 10:00 p.m. When Arthurs found out that her grandchildren were among those searching for the aircraft, she approached Amos. That’s when he took out a large knife and stabbed Arthurs and one of the children in the shoulder.

The child was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is expected to recover. Arthurs remained at Mount Carmel West following the stabbing until her death.

Amos is now facing one count of murder and two counts felonious assault. Amos was arrested Wednesday morning and is in custody at the Franklin County Jail.

On Thursday, a judge set his bond at $2.5 million.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Columbus Police Assault Unit at 645-4141 or central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS(8477).
