Police search for suspect in armed robbery of northeast Columbus pharmacy

Authorities are searching for a suspect who robbed a northeast Columbus pharmacy, stealing restricted medications.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities are searching for a suspect who robbed a northeast Columbus pharmacy, stealing restricted medications.

Columbus police said the robbery happened at the Discount Drug Mart located in the 5500 block of North Hamilton Road at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, the suspect entered the pharmacy and handed the clerk a note saying that the store was being robbed. Detectives say he then jumped over the counter, pulled a gun out and handed the pharmacist a bag. The pharmacist unlocked the restricted medication and handed the bag to the suspect, who then fled the store.

Police described the suspect as a black male, 5’5’’ to 5’7" tall and 130-140 pounds with facial hair. He was seen wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, black shoes and a white and black BB cap with red logo. The suspect had a small, black, semi-automatic handgun.
