Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced on Friday that a Franklin County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Michael Rademacher of Columbus.
The indictment against Rademacher is for one count interfering with the operation of an aircraft with a laser, and one count possession of criminal tools.
Columbus police officers were on helicopter patrol on March 21, when they were hit by a bright blue, high-powered laser through the windshield of the helicopter.
The officers were able to regain their composure and later determined that the laser was emitted from Rademacher’s home on Manville Court in Columbus, according to Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.
Columbus Police executed a search warrant at Rademacher’s residence and recovered a high-powered laser and talked to Rademacher regarding possession of the device.
If convicted, Rademacher faces up to nine years in prison.
