CrimeTracker 10 Looks At Halloween Crime

It’s a night for tricks and treats, but what about crime on Halloween?

CrimeTracker 10 spent the past week digging into police reports, trying to see if criminals really choose Halloween night to target your home while you're out.

In Powell, police say they had no criminal reports during trick or treat times since 2009. They also had only one accident and one animal call in 2011.

In Worthington, officers last year took only one theft report and one case of underage consumption. You'd have to go back to 2007 to find something more serious, which was disorderly conduct.

Westerville police say it's pretty quiet Halloween night with only one theft report in both 2012 and 2011.

Gahanna's crime analyst crunched the numbers and reports zero crimes between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m. over the past three years.

Bexley police say last year they did have 1 trespassing case. The year before that, there were two thefts and disorderly conduct.

So for the most part, there were no serious crimes to report, but nearly every police department 10TV reached out to say they provide extra patrols on Beggars Night.
