Columbus police looking for answers on 2017 homicide

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are searching for answers on a homicide that took place in 2017. 

Police were sent to the area of East 5th Avenue and the ramp to James Road on Oct. 10, 2017 around 9:00 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found Ulrich Smith, 42, lying on the street. Police said he was suffering from a gunshot wound. 

He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. 

According to Columbus police, Smith was walking home from a COTA bus stop. He left behind his wife and son.
