APD: 2 men, 1 boy hurt in Adamsville community triple shooting

Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are investigating a triple shooting on Middleton Road Sunday afternoon in the Adamsville community.

Officers responded to the Commons Apartments at 3150 Middleton Rd NW around 1:44 p.m. When they arrived they found a man and a boy shot. After searching the area, they found another man shot at 3144 Reeves Circle NW, a few yards away, according to APD. The shooting happened off of MLK JR Drive SW near the C.T. Natatorium and Recreation Center.

Grady EMS arrived and transported all of the victims to the hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet released their condition.

Sandra Mitchell said police were investigating right outside of her home. Mitchell's concerns immediately went to the kids in the neighborhood.

"There's a lot of them out there playing. They don't care. They don't have a heart for one another. That's the way I feel," she said.

Another woman, who lives in the neighborhood, said the area has a history of attracting crime.

"This a bad area. This is a racetrack people come up and down, flying up and down this stuff. A lot of shootings go on over there," she said.

In July, Atlanta Police said a child was injured by flying glass after someone fired several rounds into a building at the Allen Hills Apartments on Middleton Road. Then in October, a 16-year-old was shot on Middleton Road.

"Need more police coming up and down or sitting, pulling up and sitting around. Watch the area more," she said.

Mitchell said she's not worried about staying safe considering how long she's lived in the neighborhood.

"I've been out there since 1996, so I'm not worrying about myself period. I'm worrying about other folks and kids," she said.

Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting. Police have not released a motive for the shooting.

This is a developing story, we'll continue to update as we learn more.
