Suspect arrested in connection to shooting outside West Phoenix bar

Police say three security guards were in some sort of altercation with a group of people before they were shot.

Police arrested a 41-year-old suspect in connection to a recent shooting outside a west Phoenix bar Sunday night. According to authorities, the suspect allegedly shot three security guards outside the bar during the incident.

Officials said Herman Samarripas was arrested and taken into custody.

Officers were called to the Purple Turtle Sports Bar near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate a shooting call in the area.

Police said the guards were in some sort of altercation with a group of people before they were shot. Officials said two of the guards suffered life-threatening injuries and the third is expected to survive.

According to court documents, one of the victims had up to 14 gunshot wounds to his chest and lower extremities. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A second victim sustained four gunshot wounds and is in the hospital in critical condition, officials said. The third victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Identities of all the victims were not immediately released.
