Police: 2 injured in shooting near Bicentennial Park

Police have not given any information about a possible suspect.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police said two people were injured in a shooting in downtown Columbus Monday night.

Police said the shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. in the area of Civic Center Drive and West Rich Street, which is near Bicentennial Park.

Responding officers found a 17-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his lower body. Police say he was taken to Grant Medical Center.

Around 9:40 p.m., officers were called to another area hospital on the report of a second shooting victim.

The 18-year-old victim told police he was struck by gunfire on High Street while riding a scooter.

Police said it was later determined both victims were struck by gunfire in the same area. Both are expected to recover from their injuries.

Columbus police recently started to track shootings by precinct. So far this year, there have been nine shootings in the 16th precinct, which is where Bicentennial Park is located.
