Beauty Trend Goes Beyond Skin Deep

A new beauty trend is picking up popularity among women in central Ohio.

Wake up with the makeup.

It's a new beauty trend picking up popularity among women in central Ohio.

We're talking about permanent make up, a safe and medically-proven method of applying microscopic natural pigments into the dermal layer of the skin.

And for moms on-the-go, it's a time saver option too.

"This is really helping them," says Sunny Desai, Senior Esthetician at the Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Dublin.

"It not only helps enhance their features, day-to-day life, but really time saving," adds Desai, who is also a Certified Micropigmentation Specialist.

"People who can't see where they are applying, it helps them."

Desai says after decades of experience, she has witnessed a change in clients who undergo permanent make-up for health reasons, such as alopecia, a hair loss condition.

"Another young girl has another disorder of pulling her eyebrows and eyelashes," says Desai of another client who doesn't realize she's pulling out her hair while she sleeps.

Testimonials from some of Desai's clients share how permanent make-up is helping them gain back confidence and return to a "normal" life.

"... I wore a wig with bangs that nearly covered my eyes. I colored in eyebrows, but they were very thin and I never felt comfortable.  When you drew in eyebrows and showed me how to line my eyes I felt like finally, I looked normal again.

I felt confident. Over the last six months, I have returned to my life. I don't hide under a wig any more. My confidence is back, my hair is growing!"

Stories like that are why Desai is an advocate for everyone to try permanent make-up if they think it's right for them.  Some of her clients have even included men.
