TSA officials discovered a loaded handgun at a checkpoint at Port Columbus International airport on Thursday.
According to the TSA, the loaded Ruger .380 pistol was found in a passenger’s carry-on bag around 12:30 p.m. TSA immediately reported the weapon to airport police, who took possession of the bag.
It’s the 13th firearm discovered at a TSA checkpoint at Port Columbus this year alone. In 2013, 10 firearms were found.
The TSA says in addition to potential criminal charges, passengers who bring firearms to a checkpoint could also face civil penalties. However, it’s unclear if the passenger will be charged in the latest case.
