It has been one year since Bosco the police dog was paralyzed from the neck down, after beingshot by a man trying to flee police.
Officer Mike Schiele thought he had lost his canine partner after both he and Bosco were shot bya man he was trying to arrest, 10TV's Angela An reported on Tuesday.
"Two (bullets) in his neck; one exited his chest and one is still in there," Schiele said.

Bosco was shot twice and Schiele was shot once in the upper leg.
Schiele was trying to arrest a man when he began to struggle.
Schiele opened the door to his cruiser with a remote, and Bosco came charging out, Anreported.
"They trust us to protect them and lead them in the right direction, and we have to trust themto protect us to make sure we get home to our family," Schiele said.
Schiele said Bosco saved his life, but sacrificed his future as a police dog to do so.
Four months after the shooting, Schiele was assigned a new canine partner named Tino, Anreported.
"I was anxious to meet Tino and work with him, and I think it helped me get back into the swingof things as well," Schiele said.
Bosco has retired from the police department but makes public appearances, including stopping atnursing homes.
"A lot of what I hear is that they saw Bosco was paralyzed and use his story as their ownpersonal motivation for their journey," Schiele said.
Bosco still has some permanent nerve damage.
Although he no longer rides in a cruiser, he is still by Schiele's side.
"See him running, he's dragging his right leg, throws his left and drags his right," Schielesaid. "Anywhere I am in the house, he has to be. If I'm in the office, on the computer, hehas to lay by my chair, watching TV in the living room, he's on my feet. He's like a shadow."
A trail date for the man accused in the shooting has not yet been set.
