Motorcyclist dies, construction worker seriously injured in Hocking County crash


HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio - A motorcyclist has died and a construction worker was injured after being hit by a car in Hocking County, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.

OSHP said a 17-year-old was driving north on SR-328 near Logan in a construction zone just before 3 p.m. Monday. The driver hit a motorcyclist who was told to stop in the northbound lane by a construction flagger.

OSHP said the driver then hit the flagger, sending her into the side of a parked car.

The motorcyclist, 36-year-old Lafe Barnett Jr. of Logan, and the flagger, 49-year-old Lora Parker of Zanesville, were flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries. Barnett Jr. succumbed to his injuries Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

The driver of the car was not injured.

OSHP said alcohol and drug use are not suspected to be factors in the crash.

OSHP has not released information on any potential charges related to the crash.
