AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Community College is hosting two job expos at its Highland Campus Thursday, July 8, and Saturday, July 10.
ACC decided to host the Manufacturing Careers Expo after seeing an “immense response” to its Tesla START Manufacturing training program announcement, according to a press release.
Applied Materials, Flex and other employers will also attend the expo. ACC is offering the expo from 4 to 6 p.m. on July 8 and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 10.
Both events will also include a tour of the campus's manufacturing facilities, hands-on demonstrations and a panel discussion on the growing manufacturing industry in Central Texas.
This is the first time ACC’s new manufacturing facilities at the Highland Campus will open to the community for an in-person event, according to the press release.
“Manufacturing is advancing and building new technologies,” manufacturing department chair at ACC Laura Marmolejo said in the press release. "Workers aren’t sitting on an assembly line, but designing, building and maintaining cutting-edge machines, like robots and advanced automation. We are building direct paths for students to train and get the skills needed to meet the growing demands of these high-paying careers in Central Texas’ manufacturing workforce.”
Students at the community college can also get an associate’s degree or certificate in Advanced Manufacturing.
