Meyer, Tressel among speakers for Earle Bruce Celebration of Life

A celebration to honor the life of Coach Earle Bruce will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Arena.

The general public is invited to attend the approximately hour-long ceremony that will feature speakers and music by students from the Ohio State University Marching and Athletic Bands.

Parking is free in the North St. John Arena lots and the North Riverbank lot.

Bruce died in Columbus at the age of 87, according to a statement released by his daughters through Ohio State on Friday. He'd been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

10TV's Dom Tiberi will emcee the celebration. Ohio State All-American William White will deliver the invocation.

The speakers will include Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, coach Bruce’s grandson Zach Smith, current assistant coach Tony Alford and longtime 610 WTVN announcer Matt McCoy.

Services and burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for family, close friends, former players and coaches.
