Meth cases on the rise across Ohio

The state of Ohio is looking at a record year when it comes to methamphetamine abuse.

CrimeTracker 10 uncovered a 550 percent increase this year in lab submissions that have tested positive for meth.

According to the Ohio Attorney General’s office, the number of statewide lab submissions to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has reached 7,616 so far this year (2018). That number was only 1,172 in the year 2013.

CrimeTracker 10 has followed the increase of meth infiltrating in central Ohio. The State Highway Patrol says Mexican drug cartels are transporting the drug through hidden compartments in vehicles.

Recent drug task forces across the state have also led to major meth seizures and arrests.
