SPRING, Texas (WTHR) — A Texas man believes he's solved the problem of overpriced senior care.

Terry Robison said instead of a nursing home when he's older, he plans to stay in a hotel.

"We'll be checking into a Holiday Inn," he wrote on Facebook.

He estimates that the average nursing home care costs $188 per day. That's not including an assisted living facility or a facility that offers care for those who are chronically ill or unable to take care of themselves.

But a long-term stay discount plus a senior discount at a Holiday Inn is around $59.93 per night — breakfast included.

"That leaves $128.77 a day for lunch and dinner in any restaurant we want, or room service, laundry, gratuities and special TV movies."

Aside from the hotel providing amenities, Robison said that Holiday Inns exist all over the world, so if you want to go on vacation or move to a different one, you can.

Robison also said family will be happy to be visit because it will be like a mini-vacation.

"So, when I reach that golden age, I'll face it with a grin," he wrote.
