Man killed in crash on West Broad Street in Franklin Township

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A man is dead after a crash on West Broad Street in Franklin Township.

The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday on West Broad Street just east of I-270 and west of Georgesville Road

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said 71-year-old Michael Stakely of Columbus was driving east on West Broad Street when he lost control, went off the left side of the road and hit a light pole.

The sheriff's office said he was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Doctor's Hospital where he died.

Investigators said there is no indication alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.

Stakely was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff's office.
