Man indicted for rape, murder of woman found in garage; suspected of raping 2 others

COLUMBUS — A man indicted for the rape and murder of a woman found in a garage in February has also been indicted in connection to the rape of two other women.

Troy Hairston, 48, turned himself in to police after responders found 47-year-old Tonya Daniels unresponsive in a garage in the southeast area of Columbus Feb. 24.

“Within a five-month time span, this man kidnapped and raped three women, killing one of them," said Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien in a news release.

According to the indictments, Hairston allegedly raped another woman around the same time Daniels was killed. He has been indicted for another rape that allegedly occurred in September 2018.

Hairston has been given Repeat Violent Offender specifications in the indictment due to his rape conviction from 1994.

He is due in court Monday, March 18.
