Man gets out of vehicle, stands in rain to show respect during funeral procession

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTHR) – A man in Bloomington went above and beyond to show his respect for a funeral procession.

Joy Wagler captured the moment and shared the photo on Facebook Wednesday.

"I don’t know him, but he is a wonderful example of how we need to act when a funeral procession comes through while we are driving," Wagler wrote.

She says the man pulled over, got out of his truck, took off his hat, stood in the rain and bowed his head as the funeral procession made its way down the street past him.

The funeral procession seemed longer than the average, according to Wagler, and she says the man didn't move until it was over.

"Unfortunately this is something that has been lost with a lot of people. He showed so much respect," Wagler wrote on Facebook. "It was a good reminder to me that we should never be so busy and so much in a hurry that we forget to show compassion and respect for our fellow men!"

Wagler's post has been shared more than 2,000 times.
