COLUMBUS -- Police are investigating after two bodies were found in a van in the Hilltop area Sunday.

John Jordan, 54, confessed to beating and killing Ryan Fuller and Mikayla Sotherland – a Columbus couple who has been missing for more than a week, according to court documents.

Monday Jordan was given a $3 million bond in Franklin County Municipal Court -- a $1.5 million bond for each of the murder charges he is facing.

The family of Sotherland and Fuller were searching for the couple Sunday when a tip came into Columbus police saying that two bodies were found in a van along Harris Ave.

According to the court documents, Jordan and Fuller had an argument that got out of hand and Jordan hit fuller with an object. When Sotherland tried to intervene she was struck and killed, too.

The documents say Jordan moved the bodies from the location of the altercation. According to a release from police, a call was made to the radio room a little before noon Sunday stating two bodies were in a van on South Harris Avenue.

Jordan was previously sentenced to seven years in prison for felonious assault in 2002. Charges of kidnapping, and abduction were dropped in that case. Jordan also had misdemeanor charges for assault in 1996 and 1997.
