Man charged with murder in deadly Newark stabbing

NEWARK, Ohio - One man is dead and another is charged with murder after being injured in a reported stabbing in Newark on Feb. 11.

Newark police said officers were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of Deo Drive around 4:15 p.m.

Employees reported two men had entered the business with stab wounds seeking help. Investigators determined the incident happened outside the former Kroger store.

Police said they found knives at the scene and are not looking for any suspects.

Police identified the deceased as 38-year-old Rodney Peyton.

28-year-old Michael Culp, was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital before he was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus to be treated for serious injuries.

Culp is charged with murder according to Licking County Common Pleas court records filed on Feb. 20.
