Man charged with murder after deadly shooting in Linden

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A man has been arrested and charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Linden.

Columbus police said they responded to the area of Medina Avenue and East 26th Avenue around 2:22 a.m. on the report of a crash where the driver appeared to have been shot.

Officers found 38-year-old William Berry III suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medics transported Berry to Grant Medical Center in serious condition. He was pronounced dead at 2:51 a.m.

Police said the initial investigation along with witness accounts said Berry had exited his vehicle in the rear alley of East 26th Avenue when 24-year-old Adrian Lamor Tucker allegedly fired multiple shots.

Berry returned to his vehicle and fled westbound in the alley.

Tucker was apprehended a short time later and charged. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
