The Fairfield County Prosecuting Attorney has filed aggravated murder charges in the death of a Pickerington man who died in a house fire last month.

Raeqwan Hancock, 21, has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder in the death of 60-year-old John Peter Letourneau.

Fairfield County Prosecuting Attorney Kyle Witt says evidence from the case suggests Hancock intentionally set Letourneau’s home on fire on April 8, following a burglary, knowing the man was still inside.

Hancock is also suspected of burglarizing a home about a mile-and-a-half away from Letourneau’s two days prior.

Hancock has been in custody since April 15. He is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and aggravated arson in connection to the April 8 incident.

He’s been charged with burglary in connection to the April 6 incident.

Witt says Hancock is expected to appear in the Fairfield County Common Pleas Court in a matter of days.

He also says he appreciates the efforts and investigation from multiple agencies in this case, including Fairfield County, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg and Violet Township.
