Work is being done to improve the roundabout at SR-161 and Riverside Drive in Dublin.

Drivers may have already noticed overnight lane restrictions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the intersection this week. That overnight work will continue through Thursday, October 18.

The biggest impact will come Friday, October 19 at 8 p.m. when the SR-161/Riverside Dr intersection closes for the weekend. Crews anticipate the intersection will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, October 22.

According to a statement on the city’s website, this work was intentionally scheduled “for a time that presents the least amount of disruption for drivers and the safest environment for the workers.”

Suggested detours

Southbound

  • South – Bypass remains open for thru traffic
  • West – Emerald Parkway to Dublin Road to access the Historic District
  • East – John Shields Parkway to Dale Drive to SR-161

Should weather become an issue, city leaders state on their website that the closure will be postponed to the following weekend, Friday, October 26 through Monday, October 29.

After the work is complete, northbound drivers will utilize a new traffic pattern.

New northbound configuration:

  • Left lane – left turn or straight thru
  • Center lane – Straight only
  • Right turn only

The city also states that in addition to the lane assignment changes, drivers can also expect improved pavement markings and signage at the intersection.
