Landfill Fire Sends Smoke and Smell Into Columbus Air

Firefighters rushed to a landfill fire in south Columbus Tuesday morning.

Investigators said it started just before 4 a.m. in the area of Harmon Avenue and Greenlawn Avenue.

The flames sent a large plume of smoke into the air along with a strong smell.

Firefighters used water to douse the flames and get the fire under control.

Investigators were working to discover what caused the landfill to begin burning.
