Journalists Al Roker and Deborah Roberts to deliver keynote address for Columbus City Schools' Class of 2020

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus City Schools' Class of 2020 will have their keynote address delivered by two high-profile media personalities.

The district announced Friday that NBC Today Show Host and meteorologist Al Roker and his wife, ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts will give the keynote address during CCS' virtual graduation ceremonies.

“These are extraordinary times, and of course, extraordinary solutions are required to keep our kids feeling valued and celebrated,” Roberts said in a released statement. “My husband, Al Roker, and I are delighted to contribute to their big day.”

“We are happy to simply encourage and inspire as best we can from our living room couch,” Roker said.

Roker has received 13 Emmy Awards during his television career, which has spanned more than 40 years. In addition to his television work, Roker has also written 12 books.

Roberts, who has worked as an ABC News Correspondent for 20/20, Nightline, Good Morning America, and ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, has also received multiple Emmy Awards during her career.

Each CCS high school's virtual graduation ceremony will be streamed on the district's Facebook page and YouTube channel, as well as air on the Columbus Educational Access Channel. The ceremonies will also be simulcast on WCBE 90.5 FM.
