The Johnstown village manager said he doesn’t want the comments by a local business owner regarding two Westerville police officers killed in the line of duty to reflect badly on the village.

Jim Lenner’s concern comes after the owner of Route 62 BBQ tweeted about the deaths of Officer Eric Joering and Officer Anthony Morelli.

The two officers were shot and killed Saturday while responding to a 911 hang-up call.

During a press conference held by officials in Westerville, aired live on local television stations, the owner tweeted: "Do I really have to watch a split screen of Pebble Beach golf for a couple of cops that were killed hours ago in a suburb?"

After receiving negative backlash on social media and Yelp, the owner took to the restaurant’s Facebook page to apologize for his comment. All accounts associated with the owner and restaurant have since been taken down.

Village Manager Jim Lenner said the restaurant is synonymous with Johnstown and thinks the comments will attach to the community.

Lenner said he wanted the Westerville Police Department to know that Johnstown stands in support of them.
