COLUMBUS, Ohio — Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden stopped in central Ohio Thursday to speak at a fundraiser in the backyard of Attorney Charles “Rocky” Saxbe in Bexley.

During his speech, Biden did not mention the House’s vote Thursday to pass ground rules for their impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump. However, he noted that he was in the Senate for two impeachments.

"Impeachments are not good. They’re not good for the country, but, unfortunately, the constitution has to be responded to,” he said.

Biden then moved his focus to the nation’s identity in the eyes of the rest of the world.

"Our reputation around the world is being crushed, it’s being damaged. A lot more is stake than just domestic issues here. We’re in a situation today where America’s word is no longer taken as its word. I’m not joking about that.”

Biden’s next stop will be in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday.
