Authorities say a man who promoted prostitution and human trafficking for years in central Ohio has been sentenced to prison.

The Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Andrew Harris – also known as Bobby Eric Smith and “Jamaican Rick” – was sentenced to 15 years after pleading guilty to one count of human trafficking, one count of compelling prostitution and two counts of promoting prostitution.

Authorities say Harris targeted women who were suffering from drug addiction, made them advertise sexual services online and forced them to sell those services at motels in Columbus.

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said Harris used their addictions, along with physical violence to compel them to engage in the sexual activity.

Along with his sentence, Harris was also classified as a Tier 2 sex offender. When he is released from prison, he will be required to register every 180 days for 25 years.
